February 2008 (Vintage 2005)Honey, rose petal, peony, sweet pea, bacon fat, and cinnamon in the nose of the 2005 Gewurztraminer Seigneurs de Ribeaupierre (incorporating Osterberg and Hunawihr fruit) lead to a rich yet rather firm palate with a “cool” chalky impression, its 15 grams of residual sugar practically neutralized by (for this grape) unusually high acidity and palpable extract. Refined, elegant, and deftly-balanced, this finishes with persistent juiciness, eloquent, enticing florality, and subtle spice.
