Production notes

100% of the fruit for the Chardonnay came from McManis’ very own River Junction AVA, located at the confluence of the San Joaquin and Stanislaus Rivers. The vineyards here sit below the waterline most of the year, resulting in temperatures 2-5 degrees cooler than the surrounding area and a more prominent diurnal temperature swing. Perfect for growing quality Chardonnay. The wine is cold fermented in stainless steel and filtered prior to oak aging for 4 months in a mix of French and American oak. Approximately two thirds of the wine was allowed to go through malolactic fermentation to add complexity and texture

Tasting notes

Light golden straw in color with bright fruit aromas of pear, melon, and peach. The palate is driven by notes of stone-fruit, banana, vanilla, and a hint of buttered popcorn. Rich and decadent, this Chardonnay can be enjoyed on its own or with a delicious meal.

December 2024 (Vintage 2023)

This wine is crisp, bright, with aromas of Green apple, peach, baked pear, allspice, and notes of toasted vanilla on the nose. The flavors on the palate are Golden Delicious apple, banana chips, layered with mineral, and a long dry finish.

September 2022 (Vintage 2020)

McManis River Junction 2020 Chardonnay is produced from sustainably-grown grapes in California's River Junction, designated an AVA in 2001, that is home to a single producer. This Chard is dry, medium-bodied and creamy with ripe red apple, peach, lemon pudding and buttery caramel flavours with a long and vibrant finish. Complex and beautifully balanced, and excellent value.
