Product notes

Clear, sunny days and cool nights produced the perfect ripening conditions leading up to a successful 2015 harvest. Apart from a limited period of unseasonal rain, the region remained very dry right throughout the summer months and into early autumn. In fact, we commenced harvest of most varieties at least one week early.

Production notes

Ten parcels of Sauvignon Blanc from the Seaview Vineyard and two from our Wairau Valley Vineyard were selected to blend this wine. The parcels were harvested individually over a period of eight days. The fruit was crushed, de-stemmed and gently pressed. The juice was cold settled for 72 hours, after which the clear juice was racked off. A cool fermentation in stainless steel followed, to capture and enhance the natural fruit flavours.

Tasting notes

The bouquet shows ripe notes of passionfruit and guava, underpinned with aromas of fresh herbs and blackcurrant. The palate is brimming with zingy fruit that is balanced with a long, crisp mineral finish. Enjoy with both fresh and cooked seafood dishes such as oysters, prawns, green lip mussel and fish. This wine is suitable for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free diets.

November 2018

This light straw–colored beauty features a classic petrol-to-grapefruit nose with a hint of baby’s-breath flowers and a kiss of wet stone. Grapefruit peel gives a pleasant texture to the mouthfeel while dill, tarragon, and chamomile add zest, zing, and tonality.

February 2020

The 2019 Yealands Sauvignon Blanc is a spot-on example of what this grape variety produces in Marlborough. This wine is fresh, brisk, and satisfying. Its lively aromas and flavors of ripe fruit, dried herbs, and light chalkiness should pair well with a dozen raw oysters and a sprinkling of tart citrus.

Papaya, lemon, dried mango and lime flavors burst out of the glass, with a detail of lemongrass on the finish. This has plenty of juicy acidity but comes across as light and smooth...

David Lawrason, June 2015

Yealands is large project in the Awatere Valley sub-region of Marlborough. Fruit from this cooler, more maritime region is often more green, and this shows the fresh dill, green chestnut, celery leaf and capsicum I have come to expect. It's quite intense and nervy with mouthwatering lime-like acidity a touch of heat and well positioned balancing sweetness. It has some bitterness; and very good to excellent length. Tasted June 2015.
