Clos de Vougeot Grand cru 2012

- 93 points -

A discreet application of wood highlights the markedly ripe but fresh aromas of various dark berries, pungent earth and humus scents. I like the seductive texture of the middle weight plus flavors that manage to retain good delineation on the notably powerful, dusty and balanced finish that is less youthfully austere than usual. This suave and lush effort is also impressive but note that plenty of patience will be required.

About Burghound.com

Burghound.com is the result of a nearly lifelong passion for the wines of Burgundy. For more than 30 years, I have been collecting the wines and visiting the region. Each year I spend nearly five months visiting, researching, tasting, exploring and evaluating. Burgundy is my obsession really. Expanding on my coverage of the coveted pinot noir grape, each issue provides continuous coverage of both Oregon and California pinot noir, with rotating coverage of Champagne and occasional special reports from other pinot producing regions.
