Moulin-à-Vent Croix des Vérillats 2011

"The classic Moulin-à-vent pepper character is strong on the reserved nose that is composed of mostly dark berry fruit and earth aromas. There is good concentration in the context of the vintage with delicious and intense flavors that are supported by firm, indeed even chewy tannins yet there is an abundance of dry extract buffering them on the balanced and lenghty finish. Even though the fruit was destemmend the palate impression is old school and serious and I would recommend buying this only if you have the express intention of cellaring it for at least 6 to 8 years first."

About Burghound.com

Burghound.com is the result of a nearly lifelong passion for the wines of Burgundy. For more than 30 years, I have been collecting the wines and visiting the region. Each year I spend nearly five months visiting, researching, tasting, exploring and evaluating. Burgundy is my obsession really. Expanding on my coverage of the coveted pinot noir grape, each issue provides continuous coverage of both Oregon and California pinot noir, with rotating coverage of Champagne and occasional special reports from other pinot producing regions.
