(from a 1 ha parcel that runs from the bottom to the top in Vergers proper). Soft wood nuances add breadth to the slightly riper mix of various white orchard fruit scents and in particular pear and white peach. There is a marginally finer mouth feel to the attractively concentrated and punchy medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by citrus-tinged acidity on the lightly mineral-inflected finale. Like the Chenevottes this isn't super complex at present but the underlying material appears to be up to the task of engendering further depth with a few years of cellaring.

About Burghound.com

Burghound.com is the result of a nearly lifelong passion for the wines of Burgundy. For more than 30 years, I have been collecting the wines and visiting the region. Each year I spend nearly five months visiting, researching, tasting, exploring and evaluating. Burgundy is my obsession really. Expanding on my coverage of the coveted pinot noir grape, each issue provides continuous coverage of both Oregon and California pinot noir, with rotating coverage of Champagne and occasional special reports from other pinot producing regions.
