Alenza Gran Reserva D.O. 2006

- 96 points -

Alenza is the result of the diligent work carried out over the past four decades by the Condado de Haza bodega, owned by renowned winemaker Alejandro Fernández. This exceptional Gran Reserva is made traditionally by fermenting the must together with the stems – in other words non-destemming – using grapes grown on centuries-old vines in the Viña Valera vineyard from outstanding harvests that boast the level of quality required. This natural, unprocessed wine is a true reflection of its native land, an exceptional terroir on the banks of the mighty River Duero which affords the wine unique nuances. Intense maroon in colour with a cherry-red rim it emits aromas of wild fruits with balsamic and mineral hints. A smooth, intense finish in the mouth leads to a fruity aftertaste.
