Sancerre la Grande Cote 2015

- 94 points -

La Grande Côte contains Cotat’s oldest vines, with some ranging over 60 years. This two-acre vineyard faces north and is steeply sloped with clay-rich and chalky soils. The Sauvignon Blanc is pressed whole cluster, then fermented on indigenous yeasts in older demi-muids prior to being aged in older, large tonneaux for more than one year. The results are a thing of beauty from Pascal Cotat, as this shows striking characteristics of citrus, white peach, mineral, saline and floral notes all coming together. This possesses [an] absolutely gorgeous texture with remarkable balance and precision throughout. Overall, the Grande Côte is nothing short of sensational and while this is already simply irresistible, it has the potential to age gracefully for many years to come.
