Blanco 2011

"(garnacha blanca, viura, roussanne, marsanne and viognier, fermented and aged in large oak casks):  Bright yellow.  Smoky pear and nectarine aromas are complemented by chalky minerals, toasty lees and iodine.  Supple, deeply pitched orchard fruit and melon flavors stain the palate, picking up bitter citrus zest and ginger qualities on the back end.  Turns firmer and more minerally with air, finishing with excellent lift, thrust and smoky persistence.  I really like the fact that this wine has moved away from the overt oakiness it frequently showed in past vintages, and I now consider it to be among the top white wines in all of Spain."
