Dark cherries, underbrush, sweet tobacco, menthol and licorice meld together in the 2009 Brunello di Montalcino, a wine that impresses for its nuance and overall complexity. The 2009 is beautiful and persistent on the palate, with excellent freshness for the vintage and enough structure to drink well for at least a handful of years.
