Bright medium ruby. Lovely lift as well as a touch of greenness to the aromas of blackberry, cocoa powder, chocolate and graphite. Less fleshy than the 2015 bottling but with terrific energy and black pepper lift to its suave, rather cool flavors of dark berries, menthol, minerals and spices. More savory than sweet and not at all excessively green. This fine-grained wine opens like a peacock's tail on the back end, with tannins dusting the front teeth.
