Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2014

- 91 points -

a blend from 28 different vineyards, mostly planted in the '60s and early '70s; made in concrete tanks, 15% aged in old casks; left on the lees but not stirred): Bright yellow. Yellow fruits, minerals and honeycomb on the nose. Very fine-grained but still quite tight, showing excellent cut and density to its flavors of peach and honey. Not a particularly fruity style but boasts a suave balance of thickness and freshness. Yields in 2014 ranged from three to six tons per hectare, according to Adie Badenhorst, who noted that this wine will display more of a white fruit character and a waxy quality with a few years of aging.
