Unus 2012

- 92 points -

(65% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot, from low-yielding old vines dating back to 1928; aged for 16 months in new Taransaud oak): Saturated ruby-red. Brooding aromas of cassis, black cherry, wild herbs, licorice, bitter chocolate and resin. Highly concentrated and tightly wound, showing very good violet lift to its youthfully forbidding flavors of inky black fruits. A sensation of mineral energy restrains the wine's sweetness. Finishes chewy and firmly tannic, with savory soil tones and a strong cocoa powder quality. This very promising blend calls for patience.
