- Viré-Clessé La Verchère - 2016

Viré-Clessé La Verchère 2016

- 90 points -

Bright medium yellow. Subtly complex aromas of lemon, lime, minerals, menthol and white pepper. Ripe and juicy but tighter than the Mâcon-Chardonnay Les Crays, conveying a touch of austerity to its very pure, refined lemon drop and white peach flavors. A saline component adds another dimension to this thick but vibrant wine. Jean-Philippe Bret told me that the 2002 version of this wine is dead but that the 2003 and 2001 remain fresh.
