Two thirds of this wine is made from the Mendoza clone of chardonnay prone to millerandage ("hen and chicken"), which means many dwarf berries amongst the normal-sized ones, which in turn increases the amount of extract and concentration in the wine. It spends 18 months in barrel, of which a small percentage in new wood (15%). The nose delivers bright citrus and low oak influence, with fruit in the orchard-pear-nectarine spectrum, while the palate is lean, vivid, stylistically true to form, well proportioned and nicely held in check, with a marked saline-mineral component. Long finish. Fine example.
