The Legacy 2007

- 91 points -

TOP 50 OF 2012 Dominated by Merlot with 17% Cabernet Franc and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, this ultra-premium Bordeaux-style blend has spent 21 months in French oak barrels and then aged a further 14 months prior to release. This icon of Poplar Grove's portfolio offers aromas of plums and molasses, black currents and dark cocoa, pepper and brown spice with a hint of marmite. The palate follows suit with plummy, spicy flavours, cherries, dark cocoa, roasted coffee beans and tobacco leaf. It's a big boy, bordering on brooding, but the lively acidity keeps it fresh. Although it has some age on it, you could put this one away for a few years or decant and pair with grilled steak or aged cheeses.

About Wine Scores

What is a wine score and how do wine reviewers (I don’t refer to myself as a wine critic, I review wine, I don't criticize it) decide on that score?
A wine score is a numerical rating wine reviewers give to a wine based on a series of elements. Every wine reviewer (or wine critic) has their own method of getting to a conclusive number even if they use similar guidelines to one another.
