Oldfield Reserve Golden Mile Chardonnay 2014

- 92 points -

Impressive, creamy, stylish.
The Oldfield Series is Tinhorn Creek's top tier or reserve series. This estate-grown Chardonnay was barrel fermented with native wild yeasts in French oak, then allowed to go through malolactic fermentation in the barrel cellar. After that it was aged in oak and stainless steel barrels for an additional 12 months. This is the inaugural release of this tier of Chardonnay and it falls under the new designation of Golden Mile - a sub-DVA (Designated Viticulture Area). Expect sweet golden apples and pineapple chunks, praline and a citrus bowl of lemon and tangerine with roasted spiced and warm nutty aromas. It is creamy and nutty, spicy and vibrant with great intensity and focus. A stylish Chardy with impressive persistence.

About Wine Scores

What is a wine score and how do wine reviewers (I don’t refer to myself as a wine critic, I review wine, I don't criticize it) decide on that score?
A wine score is a numerical rating wine reviewers give to a wine based on a series of elements. Every wine reviewer (or wine critic) has their own method of getting to a conclusive number even if they use similar guidelines to one another.
