N/V

I just tried/wrote about this wine last month, but there's a new vintage available, and the Catena family has long been at the forefront of Argentine wine production. The 2014 Malbec shows espresso, blackberry, dark chocolate, pepper and spice aromas. On the full-bodied palate the oak aging (14 months in barrels) is certainly noticeable, with spice and vanilla working with plush blackberry, white pepper, plum and tart cherry notes. Drinking well right now, but the oak and tannin hint that a couple of years in the cellar wouldn’t hurt. The 2013 vintage was good, but this is better.
