N/V

(a selection of the oldest vines in one of their 3 parcels). Here the wood and menthol influences are a good deal less subtle and while they don’t dominate the even spicier and slightly riper liqueur-like cassis, plum and herbal tea aromas, they’re certainly in the way. Otherwise the succulent and opulent massivelyscaled flavors possess seemingly endless reserves of dry extract that make the mid-palate and finish of this very firmly structured and almost painfully intense effort appear almost pliant. But make no mistake as this too is very clearly built for the very long haul and I wouldn’t touch a bottle for at least 15 years and 20 may ultimately prove to be too soon.

À propos de Burghound.com

Burghound.com is the result of a nearly lifelong passion for the wines of Burgundy. For more than 30 years, I have been collecting the wines and visiting the region. Each year I spend nearly five months visiting, researching, tasting, exploring and evaluating. Burgundy is my obsession really. Expanding on my coverage of the coveted pinot noir grape, each issue provides continuous coverage of both Oregon and California pinot noir, with rotating coverage of Champagne and occasional special reports from other pinot producing regions.
