Gevrey-Chambertin 1er cru Lavaux St-Jacques 2014

Once again there is a background application of oak visible on the intensely earthy and beautifully complex nose of dark berries, fruit, earth, violet and animale scents. There is good size, weight and power to the overtly muscular and stony flavors that possess terrific punch on the firm, youthfully austere and mouth coating finish where a touch of wood emerges. This relatively opulent effort exhibits simply terrific depth and I particularly like the balance here. In a word, impressive.

À propos de Burghound.com

Burghound.com is the result of a nearly lifelong passion for the wines of Burgundy. For more than 30 years, I have been collecting the wines and visiting the region. Each year I spend nearly five months visiting, researching, tasting, exploring and evaluating. Burgundy is my obsession really. Expanding on my coverage of the coveted pinot noir grape, each issue provides continuous coverage of both Oregon and California pinot noir, with rotating coverage of Champagne and occasional special reports from other pinot producing regions.
