A deep, pungent wine, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino wraps around the palate with Mediterranean herbs, smoke, black cherry, underbrush and iron nuances. The ferrous undertones that are typical of the Piancornello district come through in spades, all nicely balanced by the richness and pure density of the fruit. Today, the 2010 is decidedly virile and imposing, but it should start to soften in a few years' time. This is a fabulous Brunello from Agostina Pieri.
