Crafted with collectors in mind, the 2011 Purple Angel (92% Carmenère and 8% Petit Verdot) is assuredly the greatest, most nuanced vintage I've tasted to date. Extremely dense black-ruby in colour, it presents incredibly decadent, full-throttle aromas of dark chocolate, crème de cassis, blackberries, plums, black forest cake, crushed flowers, asphalt, delicate peppermint, vanilla, and spice. Very complex, sporting sumptuously chewy fruit, notably firm tannins, milder acidity, and a lengthy, poignant hint of creamy black chocolate and crème de cassis on the finish. Exemplary prowess, structure, harmony, and length. Now-2028.
