Red Blend 2012

Well, in this time of trendy new generation red blends, this one takes the prize for most creative packaging. Housed in a one-of-a-kind square bottle (reminiscent of olive oil) it has a trio of labeling - standard paper, ornamental raised glass and embossing. It is one of three wines produced under California Square, which includes a Chardonnay and a Cabernet. All three are made by Truett-Hurst Winery and this one is a blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah, Sangiovese, Merlot and Zinfandel. The nose offers expected jammy aromas - black raspberry, blueberry and cherries with mocha, vanilla, licorice and spice cake. The palate is supple with generous fruit, cola spice and chocolate. A very easy drinking red, a crowd-pleaser to pair with burgers, pizza, chili-dogs and sweet and spicy ribs.

À propos de Wine Scores

What is a wine score and how do wine reviewers (I don’t refer to myself as a wine critic, I review wine, I don't criticize it) decide on that score?
A wine score is a numerical rating wine reviewers give to a wine based on a series of elements. Every wine reviewer (or wine critic) has their own method of getting to a conclusive number even if they use similar guidelines to one another.
