Located high above the town of Ampuis and the Rhône River, Domaine Jamet produces tiny quantities of stunning Côte-Rôtie. The estate was founded in the 1950’s by Joseph Jamet and he began domaine bottling in 1976. In 1991 his son’s Jean-Luc and Jean-Paul took charge of the business slowly acquiring small parcels to expand the estate. Saturated ruby. Spice-tinged aromas of ripe red and dark berries and pungent flowers, with a smoky nuance emerging as the wine opens up. Sappy blackberry, bitter cherry and candied violet flavors show fine detail and are supported by a vein of juicy acidity. Turns sweeter with aeration, picking up spicecake and olive qualities that carry through a very long, gently tannic finish.

Whole bunch element is deeply buried in the beautiful fruit purity alongside black pepper and smoke. Very fine graphite tannins, good acidity, slightly raised alcohol, but such a great wine. Real depth and power from these schistous vineyards. Two parcels next to Cognet and Tartaras. 100% whole bunch. Two years élevage, 5% new oak.

Medium-bodied, very fresh, no over-ripeness. Structured, saline, plenty of thrust and direction, with a saline, snappy, fairly dry tannins. Edgy - needs time. Not made in every vintage. Grown just outside lieu-dit Tartaras and lieu-dit Germine. Whole bunch fermented, aged in 2-year-old barrels.

Leading off the 2019s, the Côtes Du Rhône Equivoque comes from vines bordering Côte Rôtie. Another gem of a wine, it offers ripe berry fruit, lots of pepper and floral notes, a round, medium to full bodied mouthfeel, and a great finish. It shows the ripeness of the vintage, but it’s balanced and already hard to resist.
