About this winery

A Spanish winery founded in 1996 which has won many awards for fine winemaking in their relatively short time as a winemaking establishment. The estate is situated just outside the border of the Ribera del Duero region in Spain’s north central province of Castilla y León, near the village of Sardón del Duero. Notes about product

Pago Negralada comes from a plot of Tempranillo, the noblest Spanish grape variety. The vines are planted in deep gravel soils intermixed with sand at the surface, and produce wines with a distinctive firm, tannic character.

Tasting notes

Sourced from a single Tempranillo vineyard planted on alluvial Duero soils mixed with gravel and sand. Intense ripe black fruit notes underpinned with elegant smoky, tobacco notes from the wood. Lively, broad, fleshy and expressive on the entry, the wine turns surprisingly supple with fine, ripe tannins. The personality and character of this noble variety shine through on a perfectly balanced finish.

August 2018

A textbook Tempranillo, the 2015 Pago Negralada has varietal aromas, red fruit, licorice and spices and a classical, velvety and elegant texture with focused and clean flavors, great harmony and a tasty, long finish. This is like an upgraded version of the Selección Especial. It's a good representation of the zone through its gentle tannins that kind of hide the natural power. It very faithfully represents the conditions of the year, the place and the variety. A true, honest Tempranillo. Bravo!
