About this winery

Nestled between the Dolomite Mountains and the Adriatic Sea are the steep hills of Valdobbiadene in northern Veneto, the heart of Prosecco Superiore. Ancient documents place the Bisol family tending to this area’s heroic viticulture since 1542. The DOCG of Cartizze is at the top of the Prosecco quality pyramid.

Tasting notes

There is a lovely, subtle steely minerality in the background which adds an extra layer of interest. A food-friendly wine; try with juicy barbecued king prawns.

July 2021

Exquisite aromas of jasmine, together with subtle notes of green apple and lemon sorbet follow through to an intense, fruity palate with just enough fizz to keep it all fresh. But, once the bubbles have passed, there’s great length to this, with pristine, sweet-fruit flavors. You forget it’s Prosecco! Fabulous.

August 2022 (Vintage 2021)

A serious nose, with green apples, nectarines, chalk and a hint of white blossom. Off-sweet and fruity, but rendered in a subtle way with a fresh, persistent fizz. Good length here. Not just about sweetness.

December 2020

Flat-out gorgeous from start to finish, the 2019 Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze mixes power and ripeness with stimulating acids and a soothing bead of fine bubbles to create a wonderful balanced expression. Yellow florals, ripe apple, musky pear and sweet spices make for an alluring display. It’s crisp and juicy, offset by an inner sweetness that’s impossible to ignore; yet it completes the expression perfectly. This is listed as dry, yet there’s about 25 grams per liter of residual sugar here. That said, it frames the expression perfectly to create a highly pleasurable Cartizze Prosecco.
