About this winery

Dog Point Vineyard is one of the oldest privately established vineyards in Marlborough. Established in 2002 by partners, Ivan & Margaret Sutherland, and James & Wendy Healy. Notes about product

Two-thirds Mendoza and one-third B95 Chardonnay clones sourced from vines dating back to 1981.

Winemaking notes

The grapes were whole bunch pressed and transferred directly to French oak barrels (15% new) and left to undergo primary and secondary malolactic fermentations for 18 months. The wine was then bottled without fining and with minimal filtration.

Tasting notes

Bright citrus aromas develop into complex smokey, flint, toast and biscuit notes. The palate demonstrates vibrant, lively acidity revealing its citrus core and is complimented by cashew and almond nuttiness. Pair with white fish, pork, and seared scallops.

October 2019

This has such complex and rich style to it with a flinty edge to the peach, grilled-lime and lemon-pith aromas. The palate has really rich textural layering and plenty of peach, grapefruit and pastry flavors. Resolved, powerful and smooth.
