About this winery

Historically Macon was known primarily as a source of vast quantities of cheap white wines made by village cooperatives - reliable everyday wines, but no match for the great whites of the Cote de Beaune. Notes about product

This beautiful parcel of about 1.5 hectares was acquired by the winery in 2016. Located at the foot of the Roche de Vergisson, on the north-facing hillside of a stunning valley, its soils of marl and clay are ideal for Chardonnay. The grapes achieve lovely ripeness despite this cooler terroir. A terroir for the future.

Treve Ring , December 2019

Mostly stainless steel. Green tea and herb detail. Mineral and finely spiced with lovely precision. Apple and pear richness with a lemony core. Very fine. 94/100 (JG)

Such a wine. Incredibly profound, with broken stones, green apple, lemon, and herbal lees driving the streamline palate. Acidity holds this tautly strung, and vibrating on the very lengthy finish. Great future ahead. 94/100 (TR)

Allen Meadows, October 2017

(Bret indicated that this will probably have a cuvée name when it is released but it had not yet been decided upon at the time of my July visit). Soft aromas of mineral reduction, matchstick and citrus introduce notably more vibrant medium weight flavors that exhibit a lovely minerality before concluding in slightly rustic and very dry finish.
