#41 Top 100 Wines of France

Novembre 2023 (Millésime 2021)

This is my dream of Cornas in a glass. Incredibly deep, blueberry, smoky and peppery nose with a twist of mystery. Stunning concentration and complexity on the plush and pristine palate, the enormous mineral freshness powering the extremely long, complete finish.

Octobre 2020 (Millésime 2019)

It has a nice balance between ripe fruit and some earthier, herbal scents. Very ripe, pure, concentrated. This has more class than most this year, it's well balanced, even if really very ripe and vibrant. Tannins are robust, ripe, plentiful, fruit-derived, finer than most. Long finish. 50-year-old vines on very steep slopes, 70% destemmed. No pigeage, natural yeasts. Wine spends 16 months in two to eight-year-old barrels. 5,000 bottles made

Josh Raynolds, Avril 2020 (Millésime 2018)

Saturated violet. Spice-tinged dark berries, potpourri, olive and exotic spices on the highly perfumed nose. Juicy, focused and appealingly sweet, offering densely packed black raspberry, cherry and candied violet flavors supported by a spine of juicy acidity. Gently chewy tannins add grip to an impressively persistent, mineral- and spice-tinged finish that strongly repeats the floral note.

Matt Walls, Septembre 2022 (Millésime 2021)

Fresh blueberry and blackberry, this has good volume in the mouth; the fruit is ripe, and the tannins are intense and quite strict, a touch on the dry side. Lots to enjoy here, and it should age with interest, though texturally it is a bit rough-and-ready. 70% destemmed, made using natural yeasts, and aged in recent but not new barrels.

Avril 2020

Spice- and mineral-tinged dark berries, potpourri, olive and a hint of smoky bacon on the highly perfumed nose. Juicy, focused and appealingly sweet, offering densely packed blueberry, cherry liqueur, licorice and candied violet flavors supported by a spine of juicy acidity. Slowly mounting tannins add grip to an impressively persistent, finely etched finish that strongly repeats the floral note.
