About this winery

Aldo Conterno was born in 1931, the second son of Giacomo Conterno; his family had been winegrowers in Piemonte for five generations. The aromas of flowers, blackberries, and white truffles are superb. Full to medium body and ultra-fine tannins. The finish lasts for minutes. An amazing Cicala. Don't miss this.

December 2020

A really exotic red, showing burnt orange-peel to the dried-strawberry, chocolate-powder and light toasted-oak character. It’s full-bodied and chewy, yet ever so polished. A wild wine.

October 2022 (Vintage 2018)

Dark ruby garnet. Fragrant and very expressive nose of mint, liquorice, wet stone, then ripe rose hips and a touch of dried citrus zest, plus raspberries. Powerful and bright on the palate, opens juicy and with tight-knit tannins, very punchy and minty with a very long finish. Can lie down without a doubt.

Cellar Sellection

September 2017

Aromas of dark berry, iris, menthol and a whiff of oak emerge on this vibrant wine. Firmly structured but loaded with finesse, the palate delivers ripe Marasca cherry, crushed black raspberry, vanilla, savory mineral and thyme alongside fine-grained tannins. A licorice note wraps around the tight finish. This is still primary so be sure to give it time to fully develop.

April 2021

Alluring aromas and flavors of cherry and raspberry are deftly accented by balsamic notes of eucalyptus, juniper and sage. Sandalwood, iron and tobacco elements chime in as this finishes long and firm.

Sweet berries and cherries with strawberries and flowers, such as violets and roses. Full-bodied, yet extremely refined and polished with beautiful finesse and length. Very long and intense.

December 2022 (Vintage 2018)

Mulled plum, leather, sweet tobacco, camphor, tar and oak spice aromas and flavors show fine depth and intensity in this red, which boasts a broad, dense structure, with tannins that dominate the finish for now. Shows fine balance, length and complexity, but needs time.
