About this winery

Diamond Creek is a true California legend: rare (only 1,500 total cases of three 'regular' bottlings, with tiny additional quantities from the miniscule Lake vineyard in favorable vintages), expensive, and talked or written about much more often than actually tasted. Furthermore, even the most rabid devotees of Napa cab have never seen the place - and they never will, no matter how many times they traverse Highway 29 or the Silverado Trail. In fact "Napa Valley" almost seems a silly appellation...

Product notes

Red Rock Terrace, a warm microclimate, is 7 acres of north facing vineyard. The red tinted soil is high in iron content. The wine from Red Rock Terrace is the most accessible and earliest drinkable of all our wines.

Tasting notes

Medium dark ruby color with cherry, mint and black currant flavors, accentuated by velvety tannins, rich and well balanced.

April 2022 (Vintage 2019)

Very bright and aromatic with blackcurrants, lilacs and red currants. So perfumed. Full-bodied and layered with a fine-velvet tannin structure. Hints of new wood and sandalwood. Creamy texture. Such beauty. Juicy. Drink after 2025.

November 2021 (Vintage 2019)

The palate is a picture of elegance and restraint with cool elegant layers of spicy red and black berry fruits, spicy red plum, hints of graphite, crème brûlée and buttered brown toast smothered in red currant jam. The tannins are subtly drying and sophisticated but lifted up by a wonderfully fresh frame of vivacious acids. Another beautiful expression of Cabernet Sauvignon.

August 2022 (Vintage 2019)

Shows wild blackberry and blueberry compote, along with streaks of warm earth, singed alder and smoldering cast iron. Densely layered through the finish, with a chaparral hint peeking in. This will need some time to stretch out fully.
