About this winery

René Rostaing is known as a Côte Rôtie Specialist, renowned for producing tiny quantities of extraordinarily refined Côte Rôtie wines, which in the words of Robert Parker are "reminiscent of Grand Cru Burgundy in their delicacy, elegance and sublime qualities." René started out in 1971, with less than half a hectare of Côte Rôtie vineyards split between the Côte Blonde and La Landonne. Tasting notes

This cuvée comes exclusively from the "La Bonnette" terroir in the AOC Condrieu area. It gives a rich and powerful wine with scents of lychees, passion fruit and white flowers. It is also characterized by a beautiful minerality and a great precision of fruit which regularly distinguish it from its peers.

Bright and lively, with exuberant star fruit, yellow apple and green almond notes that are given definition and focus by a fresh citrus peel thread throughout. Mineral-edged finish.

White Plump and friendly, with peach, nectarine, almond and white ginger notes laced up with a jasmine thread on the fleshy but fresh finish.

February 2022 (Vintage 2020)

"Always beautiful, and a wine you don’t hear enough about, Rostaing’s 2020 Condrieu La Bonnette has vibrant notes of ripe peach, flowers, honeyed minerality, and even a kiss of green almond. More medium-bodied on the palate, it has the fresher, pure style of this estate, yet this is no mid-weight Condrieu either, and it has classic Viognier texture and length. It’s beautifully done."
