About this winery

Jean-Marc Brocard's origins lie in the Côte d'Or, a farmer's son from the village of Chaudenay-le-Château, not even the son of the vigneron. Following his father’s advice Jean-Marc studied Engineering leaving behind agricultural life. Product notes

Downstream of the Serein, the river which runs through the Chablis vineyards, this Premier Cru terroir has a richer soil than the rest of the vineyard, due to the alluvial soils which are washed by the river. This makes for more flattering, pleasant and supple wines that still carry the mineral quality of the Chablis.

Production notes

Malolactic fermentation. Temperature controlled. 30% stainless steel et 70% old oak barrels for 14 months. Natural yeast.

Tasting notes

Flavours of saline, mineral with aromas of candied lemon and toasted notes. A refined and elegant wine. Pair with fish. Particularly delicious with smoked salmon.

August 2018

The 2017 Chablis Homme Mort 1er Cru, taken from Rousseau barrels, has a slightly richer, tropical tinged bouquet than the other Brocard Premier Cru, still well defined with scents of blood orange and citrus peel. The palate is well balanced with a crisp line of acidity, bright and lively with a dash of spice towards the persistent and classically styled finish. Good potential.
