About this winery

Situated in the heart of the Mosel's finest vineyards, the Max Ferdinand Richter estate has been in the family for over 300 years. The family owns 48 acres of priceless vines on the magnificent stretch of the river between Erden and Brauenberg including all the best sites: Graacher Himmelreich, Wehlener Sonnenuhr and Brauenberger Juffer and Richter's monopole Veldenzer Eilsenberg. August 2024 (Vintage 2023)

This youthful Mosel riesling has an extraordinary depth of fresh apricot character on the very concentrated, medium-bodied palate. Restrained succulence in the Spatlese context, but there’s nothing restrained about the wine’s mineral energy and the drive in the extremely long finish. And if you pay close attention, you will find a wealth of mineral, herbal and spicy nuances. Reminds me of the great 1990 vintage of this wine.

September 2024 (Vintage 2023)

The 2023 Riesling Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Spätlese, made with just 10% botrytized fruit, opens with a touch of mango and plunges into vivid peach compote sweetness. Pink grapefruit peel counters and intensifies it. Simply gorgeous, with absolute lightness. A dream.

September 2024 (Vintage 2023)

The 2023er Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese was made from 10% botrytized fruit picked at 88° Oechsle and was fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar (75 g/l). The wine offers a beautiful nose of unripe pineapple, vineyard peach, smoke, cream, and mint. It is superbly zesty and creamy feel on the juicy palate and leaves a great long feel in the finish. The wine is nicely firm yet also subtly exotic in the finish. This is a beautiful creamy yet zesty expression of Juffer-Sonnenuhr Spätlese in the making!
