About this winery

Settlement wines is owned and operated by winemaker Steve Planthaber and his partner Kirsty Sutherland. June 2021 (Vintage 2020)

Aromas of a classic Marlborough style with ripe citrus and tropical fruits then sweet red apple, grapefruit and fresh herbs. Floral and mineral scents add complexity and depth. On the palate, intense, crisp, fruity and salivating with plenty of acidity, a light salty note and fruit flavours that mirror the nose. Youthful, refreshing and very tasty with a lengthy finish. Time to develop in your cellar or drink now with freshly steamed shell fish linguine or your favourite salty starter.

March 2022 (Vintage 2021)

Bright lemon pith, fresh lime and fine herbs. Delicate vegetal undertones creep across the palate with opulent fruits. Light on its feet, and well-balanced.

Rebecca Gibb MW, March 2022 (Vintage 2020)

The 2020 Sauvignon Blanc Heritage Vineyard is a more restrained and supple style from Marlborough. This is not a tropical fruit party; we're in the grapefruit, elderflower and citrus spectrum, with 15% wild ferment bringing an attractive note of white flowers. Firm acidity makes for a tangy, clean and bright finish. There’s light, fine-grained texture on the medium-length finish, which conveys a sense of calm. I look forward to seeing more from Steve and Kirsty at Settlement.
