About this winery

Sokol Blosser is one of the pioneering estates of the Oregon state wine industry. Production notes

The grapes were carefully hand harvested at a Brix level as low as 21.5°Brix to capture the acidity and as high as 24.5°Brix to emphasize the depth and weight of fruit characters found in this founding section of the Sokol Blosser estate. They were then sorted by hand to remove any flawed bunches and 100% de-stemmed directly into 3-ton stainless steel fermenters. Cap management was done via gentile punch downs up to 2 times per day. 20% of the blend was selected from the ferment that went through extended maceration with 43 days on the skin, the remaining portion was pressed off the skins at dryness. This wine was aged in 100% French oak barrels for 17 months with minimal SO2 levels. There were 20 barrels hand selected for this final 2017 Old Vineyard blend. 20% of the blend consists of wine aged new oak barrels.

September 2020 (Vintage 2017)

Very floral with blueberries and violets on the nose. Some lemon, too. Full-bodied with layers of fruit, creamy tannins and a fruity finish. Yet, it remains balanced and refined with lovely, fine tannins.
