Matt Walls, Juillet 2021 (Millésime 2019)

Fresh and easy-going aromatics, tarragon and violets beneath the fruit. Full-bodied, a little gummy in texture, but there's a good sense of fluidity to the wine. Clearly defined confit citrus on the finish. Not quite as grand as a typical Châteauneuf perhaps but very good. Very drinkable, with a saline finish.

Novembre 2018

This has a plump but lively core of yellow apple, melon, green fig and mirabelle plum flavors laced with subtle citrus oil, verbena and jasmine notes. The long, focused finish shows weight and tension. A beauty. Clairette, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Bourboulenc.

Octobre 2018 (Millésime 2017)

This biodynamic Châteauneuf-du-Pape is fermented and aged in foudres and old barriques. It's nutty, with some oak-inspired crème brûlée notes on the nose and a hint of banana custard. Medium-bodied, it's not overdone on the palate, showing good, clear fruit expression and a fine, shining beam of acidity keeping everything fresh on the long finish. Admirable corsetry at work.

Octobre 2021 (Millésime 2020)

Juicy and fresh, with an enticingly plump core of white peach, yellow apple, star fruit and acacia notes that glide through a verbena-gilded finish. The subtle underlying acidity helps to carry this off easily, leaving an echo of macadamia nut at the very end. Gorgeous. Clairette and Roussanne.

Janvier 2019

The 'Boisrenard' Blanc comes from the Domaine's older vines 60-100 years which include a mix of white varieties that Paul and Léon Coulon planted years ago, with Clairette and Roussane at the core of the blend. It possesses a beautiful bouquet, with inviting aromatics of sweet pear, ripe peach, honey, buttered almond, fresh flowers and crushed stones all developing beautifully in the glass. On the palate this is richly textured, with excellent balance and structure, along with delicious flavors expanding on to the succulent finish. This is excellent now, and with extended air contact this really begins to show its stuff. Readers should plan on allowing this a few more years in bottle, as the best is yet to come for this stunning wine.

(Millésime 2019)

The base 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc is solid, offering pretty pear and lemon fruits as well as white flowers and a touch of minerality. It's medium-bodied and has a fresh, lively, crisp mouthfeel as well as a clean finish, all making for an outstanding Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc that will be even better with a year or so of bottle age and keep for a decade.
