Nestled between the Dolomite Mountains and the Adriatic Sea are the steep hills of Valdobbiadene in northern Veneto, the heart of Prosecco Superiore. Ancient documents place the Bisol family tending to this area’s heroic viticulture since 1542. Today, Gianluca Bisol is the President and CEO, and his brother Desiderio Bisol is the Chief Enologist and Technical Director. It was their grandfather Desiderio"Jeio" Bisol who recognized that the hills had different soils and his dream was to capture the diversity and uniqueness of these terroirs. The realization of this dream is a strong point of distinction: Bisol is the only Prosecco Superiore winery to make five Prosecco Superiores from five different soils. Their standard of excellence is second to none; all grapes are handpicked and are 100% estate-grown in Valdobbiadene. This includes their Cartizze, the “Grand Cru” of Prosecco, the legendary steep hill in Prosecco rising 305 metres above sea level with only 107 hectares of vines partitioned between 140 growers! The Prosecco Superiore hills, where Bisols’ dream comes to life, are an amalgam of history, people and expertise: they are a perfect expression of the Italian lifestyle!
