Marc Gagnon left his job as director of winemaking at Bryant Family Vineyards in 2018. During a dinner at an Italian restaurant in Napa, Michael asked Marc what was next? A short time later, Marc and Michael realized that they wanted to work together. They both agreed that they wanted to explore the terroir and history of Napa Valley by making wines only from historic vineyards in the valley. The early settlers of the valley got it right when they were choosing what and where to plant. Marc and Michael wanted to make wines that best represent a place and not a specific style. Marc began calling his friends in the valley and researching the history of the first vineyards planted. Marc and Michael now make wines from some of the oldest vineyards in the valley, including the Historic Old Federal Vineyard in Oakville, planted in 1881. The Monte Rosso vineyard in Moon Mountain first planted in 1886 and Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard in Rutherford, with records showing portions of the vineyard were first planted in 1895.
