About this winery

In 1987, Gonzalo Antón, together with a group of friends and business people from nearby Vitoria, began a ground-breaking project in deepest Rioja Alavesa. The village of Villabuena de Alava, where his family already grew grapes, was chosen as the location for the innovative bodega which would focus on making fine wine. Tasting notes

Cherry red colour. Aromas of fresh red fruit and lavender with spices and cocoa. A fruity and nice vine in the palate. Velvety and a long finish.

Aromas of blueberries, blackcurrants, dried herbs, vanilla and sweet spices. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins. Juicy, with a silky texture. Crunchy and fresh with a flavorful finish. Typical and real.

July 2022 (Vintage 2020)

The red varietal Garnacha 2020 Larrosa Negra comes from 11 hectares of vines planted in 1975 in Tudelilla that are being transitioned to organic farming. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in second and third use French oak barrels for six months. It's perfumed and ripe at 14.65% alcohol and has a varietal and Mediterranean nose of flowers and aromatic herbs and a juicy, round palate with fine tannins and a dry mouthfeel. 49,784 bottles produced, as volumes are growing. It was bottled in September 2021.

The pure Garnacha 2021 Larrosa Negra is pale and heady, with notes of cherries in liqueur and violet petals, with 14.8% alcohol and a round, juicy and full-bodied palate. Hedonistic, full and exotic. It matured in used barriques for eight months.
