About this winery
Sette Ponti reflects the vision of Dr. Antonio Moretti, who took over the estate from his father in the late 1990's, and immediately began producing estate-bottled wines. Notes about product
The 2016 harvest was a winemakers dream in terms of quality. The season saw cooler than average temperatures that led to a slight reduction in yields. This was followed by a very warm and dry summer - with only one rainfall in August to help the vines. Harvesting began in the beginning of October and the resulting wines have wonderful flavors with exceptional profiles.
The grapes were hand sorted and destemmed, and the skins were broken rather than crushed. Fermentation took place in a combination of temperature-controlled and lined open-top tanks, with manual punching down and maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation. Lots were blended when the wine was placed in barriques and also at the first racking. The wine was aged 18 months in new French barriques and 12 months in bottle prior to release.
Rich and complex aromas of black currant, small black fruits and delicate balsamic notes. Velvety tannins and blackberry fill the palate with lingering persistence.
