In 1781, in the small town of Tupin-et-Semons, south of Lyon and within the most prestigious vineyard of the Rhône, Joseph Vidal founded the House of the same name. From the outset, it acquired an international reputation thanks to Thomas Jefferson, then United States Ambassador to France, who visited the estate in 1787. Very steep granitic terraces, thin layer of unstable soil (0,30m). The original rock is gneiss giving siliceous calcareous soil. Altitude 200 to 350 m. South exposure, protected from north and west cold wind.
Clear and brilliant gold color with a slight emerald glint. A powerful nose bursting with apricot and citrussy aromas. Ripe, broad and intense flavors, unctuous texture but dry and fresh. Unmatchable finesse and delicacy. Long and elegant finish.
