FAIVELEY - Clos de Vougeot Grand cru - 2012

FAIVELEY

Clos de Vougeot Grand cru 2012

(blended from 3 separate parcels). This isn’t quite as spicy as the Ech but it’s just as fresh with a brooding and highly complex nose of pungently earthy dark berry fruit and lightly floral-inflected scents. While this is concentrated and serious the supporting tannins shaping the moderately big-bodied flavors are relatively fine-grained. There
is a real sense of focus and controlled power that allows this to retain a lovely sense of balance and harmony on the beautifully long finish. Note that like several of the wines in the range, this is expressly intended to age and it will need it.

About Burghound.com

Burghound.com is the result of a nearly lifelong passion for the wines of Burgundy. For more than 30 years, I have been collecting the wines and visiting the region. Each year I spend nearly five months visiting, researching, tasting, exploring and evaluating. Burgundy is my obsession really. Expanding on my coverage of the coveted pinot noir grape, each issue provides continuous coverage of both Oregon and California pinot noir, with rotating coverage of Champagne and occasional special reports from other pinot producing regions.
