The 2016 'Boisrenard' as an absolutely brilliant wine from Domaine de Beaurenard which takes things to another level. This stunning blend of old-vine Grenache (66%), Mourvèdre (12%) and Syrah ( 12%) undergoes lengthy vatting, and is aged traditionally, with no filtration or fining, followed by 18 months in oak barrels, before being bottled and spending further time in underground cellars. The wine itself instantly begins to impress with its fascinating and beautifully fresh aromatics of ripe black raspberries and red plums which are joined by exotic spices, florals, wet stones, cherry wood, smoke and hints of earthy minerals all soaring from the glass. On the palate this boasts a gorgeous full body, with a velvety texture along with excellent depth, concentration and precision. It continues to impress as it displays outstanding overall balance with remarkable finesse and elegance, as it demonstrates stunning class and refinement from start to finish. Even in its youth this is completely captivating, and should only go on to age gracefully for decades to come.
