The 2013 ‘Argentino’ Malbec is sourced from a meticulous vine selection in the best lots of the Adrianna Vineyard and the Nicosia Vineyard, both set on sandy soils that range from 3500 to 4700 feet elevation. The wine was aged for 24 months in new French oak prior to bottling and then received an additional 12 plus months of bottle aging. This glass-staining Malbec begins with a bright bouquet of mocha, sandalwood, creosote and crème de cassis with blueberry compote. The mouthfeel is rather voluptuous, yet slightly tannic as the wine evolves into displaying dark fruit flavors that connect with tar, graphite, and Turkish coffee. Round and generous, the silky texture glides through the mid-palate and leaves a lasting impression on the finish. Expect this gorgeous wine to age beautifully over the next two decades.
