A lucid, well honed and delicate wine with notes of lemon, clementine, cantaloupe melon and hints of smoky notes and toasty nuances. Richly defined fruit with a lovely minerality and tension..

Tim Atkin MW, Juillet 2019 (Millésime 2018)

Did organic viticulture enable the Brocards to deal with the heat of the 2018 vintage? There's certainly no sign of stress or over-ripeness in this beautifully weighted foudre- and stainless steel-fermented Right Bank premier cru, the best of the vintage. Sappy, elegant and refined with a hint of wood spice and a fresh, racy, classically Chablisien finish.

Andy Howard MW, Octobre 2021 (Millésime 2020)

As expected from the master, Jean-Marc Brocard, this is a very fine expression of Montée de Tonnerre which marries power and elegance in the same glass. Lovely purity on the nose with wildflowers and a hint of ripe peach. The palate is concentrated yet still very precise with citrus acidity and a long, lingering mineral finish.

Octobre 2022 (Millésime 2021)

Intriguing smoky character on the nose, Brocard's Montée de Tonnerre captures the essence of this top premier cru. Compact and concentrated on the palate, there is a fine combination of white flowers on the nose, stone fruit on the palate, powerful acidity and minerality. This really needs two to three years in bottle before broaching.

Septembre 2022 (Millésime 2020)

The 2020 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru is clean and precise on the nose; bright and lively with citrus peel, crushed stone and lemon verbena make these aromatics irresistible. The palate is well balanced with a steely entry. Cohesive and mineral-driven, there is impressive weight and volume, wonderful persistence on the lightly spiced finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.

Août 2018 (Millésime 2017)

Some ripe tropical fruits with poached peaches and some lifted yellow fruits. The palate has a pithy, dense core of lemons and peaches. Concentrated and fleshy. A sturdy and deep finish.

Août 2019

An impressive nose with very attractive, ripe lemon and peach aromas, as well as a stony edge. The palate has a taut, crisp and fresh feel with bright acidity, holding peaches and limes in tight.

Janvier 2018 (Millésime 2016)

On the right bank of the river Serein, this premier cru produces a complex, flinty, steely style of wine. This vintage retains much of that texture while adding riper apricot and apple flavors. It is tight and still young.

Décembre 2020 (Millésime 2019)

An overtly phenolic nose is complemented by exotic yellow fruit and acacia blossom nuances. The sleek, well detailed and energetic flavors possess an admirably sleek texture along with plenty of minerality that also suffuses the clean, dry and lingering finale.

Allen Meandows, Octobre 2018 (Millésime 2017)

A cool, pure and elegant nose displays airy notes of apple, pear, honeysuckle and quinine, all of which is trimmed in discreet oak. As one would reasonably expect, the mouth feel of the medium-bodied flavors is more refined while offering a lovely sense of underlying tension and minerality. Lovely and worth a look.
