Vinous

The Huber family has farmed in Reichersdorf for the past nine generations. The big change came in 2000, when Markus Huber took over and expanded holdings from four hectares of vines to 60 hectares now. Huber, the tenth generation, enrolled in business studies as well as the viticultural school in Klosterneuburg, then trained in Stellenbosch and Swartland in South Africa, Tokaji in Hungary and Alsace in France, as well as with key Austrian estates Bründlmayer and Jurtschitsch. Plantings are comprised of 70% Grüner Veltliner and 20% Riesling, while Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Muskateller make up the remaining 10%. These are spread across 150 different parcels in five villages. As of the 2019 vintage, the estate has been certified organic, also employing biodynamic methods. A solar energy park serves not only the winery but around 700 local households, and the estate is thus carbon-positive.
