SANTA EMA

Cabernet Sauvignon Amplus 2014

- 93 points -

The high altitude of Pirque, close to the Cordillera, offers herbal cabernet, often more delicate than wines grown in the rest of the Maipo Valley. Winemaker Andrés Sanhueza has considerably reduced the amount of new wood in his wines (in 2014, he aged 33 percent of the wine in new oak, down from 60 percent in past vintages), so the Pirque fruit is clearly felt here, delivering notes of ripe raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and herbs. The tannins are pointed, but covered by delicious fruit flavors that make it both juicy and firm. Enjoy its youthful energy with a beef brisket.
