ARGIANO

Brunello di Montalcino 2016

- 95 points -

We will be talking about the 2015 and the 2016 Brunello vintages for decades, and the wines will only improve as we do, so jump in if you want some real gems for the cellar. To simplify the comparison, there is more fruit in 2015 and more structure and tannin in 2016; both are great years. Argiano opens with fragrant violet overtones with cedar, leather, anise, and wild fruit. A riot of flavour continues on the palate. Fresh, and more importantly, alive and vibrant, this is a winner with a long future. So put on your seat belt and get ready for the ride. It begs some pici and mushrooms, a local favourite pasta in Montalcino.
