Wine Advocate on LANGMEIL
|
|
From top to bottom, Langmeil—run by brothers Paul (winemaking) and James (sales and marketing) Lindner—is hitting on all cylinders…, Hangin' Snakes, Three Gardens and Offspring, represent great values, while even the very top-end stuff, The Freedom 1843 and Pure Eden Shirazes, are reasonably priced in the context of old-vine, cellar-worthy Barossa reds. These are big, bold wines that don't skimp on flavor or texture yet show a remarkable amount of elegance and nuance.

Wine Advocate, October 2022
You know, when you drink the Freedom 1843, I think you want the concentration and intensity dialed up to 11. They're very old vines. Well, good news: It is. This 2019 The Freedom 1843 Shiraz is luscious and plush but not overdone; the intensity has been pushed right out and accelerated but harnessed at the same time. The wine is complete, pleasurable and harmonious. Excellent. Very big, but excellent.

Lifted blackcurrant and blueberry aromas entwine with biscuity French oak, hints of liquorice and more savoury, black olive notes. Bright, juicy and rich blue fruits flow onto the palate which is medium to full-bodied. Briary spice, black olive and cedary hints add to the mix with a touch of new oak sweetness and silky tannins to add complexity to the fruity
and velvety finish.

Wine Advocate, September 2022
There's a distinct style happening at Langmeil—the fruit is supple and polished, always. This 2019 Orphan Bank Shiraz is littered with bright summer raspberries and exotic spice and shaped by sophisticated tannins. This is a beautiful wine. Concentrated and lush, it will live

The Fifth Wave is Langmeil’s most treasured Old Vine Garden Grenache and is dedicated to the fifth generation of the Lindner family. The vineyard was planted in 1973 and serves as a call to arms, to preserve, promote and protect the best of the Barossa as well as an oft overlooked variety. Juicy red berries and dark cherries flow through the palate, with the soft, sweet fruit balancing with pepper and briary spices. The finish lingers on a fruity and spicy note with typical chalky yet fine-grained tannins.
